Police Blotter, Sept 15-22

Assault

Mon. 09/19 – A student athlete reported that another athlete pushed him down while running at 8:40 a.m. during a team practice taking place in Hermann Park that caused minor abrasions. The District Attorney declined charges.

Burglary of Motor Vehicle

Thur. 09/15 – A female student’s laptop was stolen from the trunk of her vehicle between noon and 3:00 p.m. of the previous day in lot on the south-west corner of Wheeler and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. (4A).

Fri. 09/16 – A male student reported that his parked vehicle was burglarized and items were stolen from within between 1:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in the lot at the south-east side of Cullen and Wheeler (9C).

Tues. 09/20 – A male student reported the theft of items from his unsecured and unattended car from Lot 8A between 12:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor

Thur. 09/22 – A resident assistant observed a student stumbling and falling in Cougar Village 2 at 11:49 p.m. Investigation revealed the student had consumed alcohol despite being under the legal age. The student was given a citation.

Criminal Mischief

Thur. 09/15 – A female student reported that her “vehicle was shattered” by an unknown person between 12:01 a.m. of the previous day and 11:30 a.m. of the current day on the Cambridge Oaks grounds.

Fri. 09/16 – A male student reported the left rear tire on his car had been slashed by an unknown person or persons between noon on Mon. 09/11 and 5:30 p.m. of the current day at Bayou Oaks Grounds.

Sat. 09/17 – A UH staff member reported damage to an exit gate arm by an unknown person or persons at an unknown time at the East Garage between the previous day and the current day.

Sun. 09/18 – A female student reported that an unknown person or person threw an unknown liquid onto her car between 2:30 p.m. on Mon. 09/12 and 11:30 a.m. of the current day. The liquid caused permanent paint damage.

Criminal Trespass

Sat. 09/17 – An unaffiliated male was reportedly panhandling at 10:17 p.m. at the MD Anderson Library. Once the male was apprehended, investigation revealed he was on campus in violation of a previous trespass warning. The male was arrested.

Disorderly Conduct (Dating Violence)

Thur. 09/15 – A UH security officer observed a physical confrontation between a man and a woman at 3:01 p.m. in the parking lot between the police station and TDECU stadium (12A). Further investigation revealed that the man and woman were in a dating relationship and were shoving each other.

Driving While Intoxicated & Public Intoxication

Sun. 09/18 – A UH staff member responding to a loud noise behind the General Services Building Grounds at 5:56 a.m. discovered a car accident. Investigation revealed the driver was intoxicated, but the District Attorney refused DWI charges. The driver was arrested for public intoxication.

Duty on Striking Unattended Vehicle

Thur. 09/15 – A student witnessed a parked vehicle being struck by another vehicle at 8:10 a.m. in parking lot between the police station and TDECU stadium (12A). The other driver failed to leave the required information.

Thur. 09/15 – A female UH staff member reported that her parked vehicle had been struck and damaged by another vehicle between 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on the previous day in parking lot between the police station and TDECU stadium (12A). The other driver failed to leave the required information.

Thur. 09/15 – A female student reported that her parked vehicle had been struck by another vehicle between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in the parking lot on Cullen opposite Cullen Oaks (8A). The other driver failed to leave the required information.

Mon. 09/19 – A male student reported that his parked car was struck and damaged by another car between 5:15 p.m. and 5:35 p.m. at Bayou Oaks Grounds. The other driver failed to leave the required information.

Tues. 09/20 – A male student reported that his car was struck by an unknown car while driving southbound on Cullen Boulevard (away from the freeway) at 10:04 a.m. The other driver failed to leave the required information.

Evading Arrest and Failure to Identify

Thur. 09/22 – A UHPD officer conducted a welfare check on a man sleeping on a bench near the Technology Building at 10:40 p.m. After being woken up, the man became belligerent, failed to identify himself, and fled. The suspect was apprehended and arrested.

Forgery

Tues. 09/20 – A contractor working at Shasta’s Cones and More in the Student Center South received a counterfeit ten-dollar bill during a transaction at 5:10 a.m.

Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor, Public Intoxication, and Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor

Fri. 09/16 – A UH security officer observed two students drinking alcohol in the lobby area of Moody Towers at 3:45 a.m. Investigation revealed that both students were intoxicated, and one student was furnishing alcohol to the second student (minor). The District Attorney declined the furnishing charge. An arrest/arrests was/were made.

Harassment

Thur. 09/22 – A student reported receiving multiple unwanted calls from tax scammer suspects, the last of which occurred between 2:10 p.m. and 2:20 p.m.

Public Intoxication

Thur. 09/15 – UHPD was dispatched to investigate a report of an unknown male running on the METRORail tracks near Cougar Village at 9:53 p.m. Investigation revealed that the unknown male was a student, was intoxicated, and presented a danger to himself. He was arrested.

Fri .09/16 – A student was found asleep and possibly intoxicated inside Cougar Woods at 12:11 p.m. by a UH security officer. Investigation revealed the student was intoxicated and presented a danger to himself. The student was arrested.

Public Intoxication and Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor

Sat. 09/17 – A UH security officer located a student who appeared to be intoxicated at 3:36 a.m. in the Cougar Village 2 lobby. The student was arrested.

Stalking

Mon. 09/19 – A female student reported her ex-boyfriend followed her on the highway from campus beginning at 9:15 a.m. and later the ex-boyfriend was waiting for her at the Cullen Oaks apartments, making an alleged threat against her new boyfriend. The District Attorney declined charges.

Theft

Thur. 09/15 – A female student reported that she had left her keys and mobile phone at Taco Cabana unattended between 12:56 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. The restaurant manager informed her that someone else had claimed the items.

Thur. 09/15 – A male student reported the theft of his unattended backpack from the Intramural Fields between 5:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Mon. 09/12.

Fri .09/16 – A female student reported via e-mail that her secured bicycle was stolen from the bike rack on the Quadrangle grounds between 1:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Sat. 09/17 – A male student reported the theft of his mobile phone from a seating area at 3:00 p.m. at the Student Center South.

Sun. 09/18 – A male student reported his clothes had been stolen from the laundry room of Cougar Place between 4:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.

Sun. 09/18 – A male student reported the theft of his secured bicycle from the bike rack between 1:00p.m on Fri. 09/16 and 8:20 p.m. on the current day at Taub Hall (Quadrangle).

Mon. 09/19 – A male student reported the theft of a UH-owned iPad from his unsecured locker between 8:00 p.m. on Wed. 09/07 and 10:00 p.m. on Fri. 09/09 at the Athletic Alumni Building.

Mon. 09/19 – A male student reported the theft of his wallet and keys from a locker in the men’s locker room between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Sat. 09/17 at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.

Mon. 09/20 – A male student reported the theft of his secured but unattended bicycle from a bike rack at Cougar Place between 8:00 p.m. of the previous day and 2:30 p.m. on the current day.

Mon. 09/20 – A male student reported the theft of his unsecured and unattended laptop from a study carrel on the second floor of the MD Anderson Library between 7:03 p.m. and 7:06 p.m.

Thur. 09/22 – A male student reported the theft of his secured bicycle from the rack at Cullen Oaks Apartments between 4:00 p.m. on Fri. 09/16 and 11:30 a.m. on Mon. 09/19.

Thur. 09/22 – A male student reported the theft of his secured bicycle from the bike rack at the Graduate College of Social Work between 7:40 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Theft and Criminal Trespass

Tues. 09/20 – An unknown individual was caught stealing a bicycle by a UH security officer at 12:21 a.m. at Cougar Place. The individual was issued a campus wide criminal trespass warning.
