Police Blotter, Sep 7–14

Robbery

Mon. 09/12 – A female student reported being assaulted and robbed of her mobile phone at 8:55 p.m. at the E. Cullen Plaza.

Assault and Criminal Mischief

Wed. 09/14 – A student reported being assaulted by an unknown male due to road rage at 1:45 p.m. in the parking lot at the northeast corner of Cullen and Elgin (16D).

Assault and Criminal Trespass Warning

Sun. 09/11 – A student reported an individual touching himself at the MD Anderson Library at 5:12 p.m. The individual assaulted a UHPD officer while trying to leave the library and was arrested.

Assault, Evading Arrest, and Possession of Marijuana

Mon. 09/12 – A female student reported that she was touched inappropriately at 3 p.m. at the MD Anderson Library. UHPD attempted to prevent the suspect from escaping, but the suspect escaped on foot. When the suspect was later apprehended, he was found to be in possession of a usable amount of marijuana. The suspect was arrested.

Sexual Assault

Fri. 09/09 – A student reported being sexually assaulted between 4 p.m. and 10:43 p.m. at Cougar Place. The Harris County District Attorney’s office neither declined nor accepted charges against the suspect.

Indecent Exposure

Tue. 09/13 – A female student reported that an unknown male had exposed himself to her at 6 p.m. on Thurs. 08/04 at the MD Anderson Library but was fearful of reporting it until 09/13.

Tue. 09/13 – A female student reported that an unknown male had exposed himself to her at 7:30 p.m. at the Student Center South.

Theft by Deception

Thurs. 09/08 – A female student reported falling victim to a scam on Thurs. 09/01 in which she was tricked into buying three mobile phones and giving them to an acquaintance.

Theft of Copper

Wed. 09/14 – A UH staff member reported the theft of several copper grounding rods and cables from the rooftops of Moody Towers between 7 a.m. on Mon. 08/15 and 11:40 a.m. on Thurs. 08/18.

Theft

Wed. 09/07 – After his wallet fell from his pocket in the parking lot between TDECU Stadium and Scott St. (12B), a male student reported the theft of his unattended wallet between 9:40 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Wed. 09/07 – A female student reported that her bike had been stolen from the Cougar Village 2 grounds. Later, the student discovered their bike at a nearby rack and realized they had forgotten which rack their bike was located at.

Thurs. 09/08 – A male student reported the theft of his laptop from the Architecture building at 3:30 p.m.

Fri. 09/09 – A student who wished to remain anonymous reported the theft of his Adidas shoes while walking to his dorm room on Mon. 08/29 between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. The reported location was Cougar Woods Dining Hall.

Mon. 09/12 – A staff member reported the theft of two Apple computers between noon on Tue. 09/02 and noon on Fri. 09/05 from the Moores School of Music.

Mon. 09/12 – A male student reported the theft of his unsecured laptop at 1:40 p.m. at the Architecture building. Several bystanders caught up to the unidentified male thief, who handed over the laptop and fled. The laptop was undamaged.

Mon. 09/12 – A male student reported the theft of his unattended laptop 10:45 a.m. and 12:55 p.m. at McElhinney Hall.

Mon. 09/12 – A male student reported the theft of his unattended laptop 10:45 a.m. and 12:55 p.m. at McElhinney Hall.

Mon. 09/12 – A male student reported the theft of his bike between 6:30 p.m. on the previous day and 3:29 on the current day at Law Hall (Quandrangle).

Wed. 09/14 – A UH staff member reported the theft of a cordless drill and other accessories between 2:30 p.m. on Wed. 09/07 and 2:30 p.m. on Tues. 09/13 from an unsecured storage room in the Science Teaching Laboratories.

Wed. 09/14 – A female student reported the theft of her unattended iPad Mini between 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in Fleming.  She later discovered that the iPad Mini had been secured and kept by a professor for safekeeping. The iPad Mini was returned to the student.

Wed. 09/14 – A female student reported the theft of her unattended mobile phone between 5:30 p.m. and 5:40 p.m. in the restrooms at the Student Center Satellite.

Criminal Mischief

Sun. 09/11 – A UH security officer reported finding a used fire extinguisher in the southwest stairwell of Calhoun Lofts at 12:47 p.m.

Mon. 09/12 – A male student reported the intentional flattening of his and several others’ bicycle tires between noon on Friday 09/09 and 8 a.m. Mon. 9/12 in the Cougar Village grounds.

Mon. 09/12 – A UH security officer on patrol discovered the rear window of a student’s car had been broken at 7:31 p.m. The student stated nothing in the car had been disturbed or removed.

Duty Upon Striking an Unattended Vehicle

Sat. 09/10 – A female visitor reported that her car at the Stadium Parking Garage had been struck and damaged by another vehicle between 10:20 a.m. and 12:05 p.m. The other driver failed to leave the required information.

Wed. 09/14 – A male student reported that his parked car in the parking lot between Cougar Place and the Stadium (12A) was struck between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Mon. 09/12. The other driver failed to leave the required information.

Wed. 09/14 – A UH staff member reported that his parked car in the Child Care Center parking lot (11B) was struck between 6:40 a.m. and 2:55 p.m. The other driver failed to leave the required information.

Duty to Give Information and Render Aid

Sun. 09/11 – A female student reported that her car in the parking lot immediately adjunct to the Design Exploration Center (18B) was struck and damaged between 1:30 p.m. of the previous day and 12:15 p.m. of the current day. The other driver failed to stop and leave the required information.

Burglary of a Motor Vehicle

Tues. 09/13 – A UH contract employee reported that his vehicle had been broken into between 7 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. in the parking lot between the TDECU Stadium and Scott street (12B). Their parking pass was stolen.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor

Sat. 09/10 – Following a disturbance call, UHPD was dispatched to a female student’s loud dorm room party at 3:36 a.m. at Cougar Village.

Sun. 09/11 – A student was issued a Harris County Citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor at 1:09 a.m. at Calhoun Lofts.

Criminal Trespass

Wed. 09/07 – Following a suspicious person report, an unaffiliated male with an active criminal trespass warning was found sleeping in Agnes Arnold Hall at 7:16AM. He was arrested.

Disorderly Conduct

Sat. 09/10 – A student was given a Harris County Citation and a Student Life Referral for slapping and punching another student at 1:47 p.m. The assaulted student was not injured.

Driving While Intoxicated

Fri. 09/09 – A student was arrested for driving while intoxicated in parking lot between the East Garage and Cullen (21B) at 1:48 a.m. The student was released pending further investigation by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

Harassment

Thurs. 09/08 – A female student reported being harassed by another student via “electronic communications,” beginning in June and lasting till the current day. The District Attorney declined charges. The reported location was Moody Towers.

Motor Vehicle Theft

Wed. 09/14 – A male student reported the theft of his customized work truck between 1:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. from the Energy Research Park Lot 40.

Possession of Marijuana

Wed. 09/07 – UHPD discovered a student at the Bayou Oaks apartments in possession of marijuana after responding to a report of the smell at 11:34 p.m. The student was arrested.

Public Intoxication

Fri. 09/09 – A student was arrested for public intoxication at Bates Residence Hall (Quadrangle) at 12:18 a.m., and transported to the Houston Center for Sobriety.

Fri. 09/09 – Two students were arrested for public intoxication at Melcher Hall at Melcher Hall at 2:17 a.m., and transported to the Houston Center for Sobriety.

Sat. 09/10 – A student was arrested for public intoxication at Café 101 after being found asleep on the ground of the parking lot behind the building and was transported to the Houston Center for Sobriety.

Mon. 09/12 – An unaffiliated male was loitering in the lobby of Moody Towers at 3:08 a.m. The male was found to be intoxicated and a danger to himself, and was arrested.
